Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 05 August, 2011.

  • Charley Pride was part of an 18-person investor group headed by Nolan Ryan that bought the Texas Rangers baseball team for $593 million at auction in Fort Worth in 2010.
  • Jamey Johnson‘s album, That Lonesome Song, was released in 2008.
  • Keith Urban‘s Be Here album was certified double-platinum in 2005.
  • Alan Jackson climbed to Number One on the Billboard country singles chart with “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” in 1995.
  • Dolly Parton‘s “Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That” went to Number One in 1989.
  • Rosanne Cash recorded the chart-topping hit, “Seven Year Ache,” in 1980.
