Dennis Rodman Says He Should Be Considered For Nobel Peace Prize

Be careful, if you think about that statement too much you’ll get a headache and a nosebleed.

Probably the craziest person to ever play in the NBA, Dennis Rodman made headlines this year when he accompanied the Harlem Globetrotters to North Korea for a basketball exhibition game.  The reason he made headlines was because Rodman actually befriended North Korea’s new dictator, Kim Jongun.  When he returned to the states, Rodman became a big advocate for helping the tense relations between the U.S. and North Korea, trying to get President Obama to contact Jongun and start talks over their common interest, basketball.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Rodman was still singing his own praises for his diplomatic work,

“Fact is, he hasn’t bombed anywhere he’s threatened to yet. Not South Korea, not Hawaii, not … whatever. People say he’s the worst guy in the world. All I know is Kim told me he doesn’t want to go to war with America. His whole deal is to talk basketball with Obama. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. I ask, Mr. President, what’s the harm in a simple phone call? This is a new age, man. Come on, Obama, reach out to Kim and be his friend.”

During his trip to North Korea, Rodman struck up a quick friendship with Kim Jongun, being photographed sitting together and having a good time at the basketball exhibition, and even reportedly taking a trip together to North Korea’s version of Sea World.  Rodman has also expressed intent to return to North Korea next month, even planning to go on vacation with Jongun and his family.

And for all his diplomatic work, Rodman is being very modest, only wanting to be considered for a Nobel Peace Prize for his troubles,

“My mission is to break the ice between hostile countries,” Rodman says. “Why it’s been left to me to smooth things over, I don’t know. Dennis Rodman, of all people. Keeping us safe is really not my job; it’s the black guy’s [Obama’s] job. But I’ll tell you this: If I don’t finish in the top three for the next Nobel Peace Prize, something’s seriously wrong.”

I’m well aware that many people are critical of President Obama being honored with a Nobel Peace Prize, but I think we can all agree that Obama is as deserving as Gandhi compared to Rodman
