Dierks Bentley Goes ‘Somewhere on a Beach’ at 2016 ACMs
Dierks Bentley took fans to the beach by way of the 2016 ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 3) in Las Vegas. He took a break from his co-hosting duties to perform "Somewhere on a Beach," the lead track from his upcoming new album, Black.
Bentley temporarily transformed Vegas' MGM Grand into a beachside tiki bar for his performance. Along with his guitar, he surrounded himself with fans to sing his current hit that is sure to be on this summer's soundtrack.
"Somewhere on a Beach" was a crowd-pleaser, and even earned a standing applause from his former tour mates, Maddie & Tae. The song picks up on some of the themes from Bentley's previous album, the critically-acclaimed Riser.
Black is a very personal album, taking its title from Bentley’s wife Cassidy’s maiden name, but it’s intended to tell a universal story of “breakups, hookups, mess-ups and everything in between, shining a light on the things that happen after the sun goes down.”
“It’s a relationship album that covers the ups and downs of the journey and ends with some self-realization and evolvement,” Bentley states. “The song ‘Black’ helps set all of that in motion at the top of the album by guiding you into the darkness and the shadows of the night. The same guy who sings ‘Somewhere on a Beach’ winds up growing and having enough perspective to sing something introspective like ‘Different for Girls.’ By the last song, he’s taking a look back on love and life.”
Black is set for release on May 27 via Capitol Records Nashville. Bentley will set out on his 2016 Somewhere on a Beach Tour with Randy Houser, Cam and Tucker Beathard beginning May 12 in Holmdel, N.J.
