On Monday (Aug. 21), a total solar eclipse occurred for the first time in the contiguous United States since 1979. The path of totality -- the route along which the moon passed completely in front of the sun -- passed through 14 states, including Tennessee, and Nashville was one of the cities in the path.

In Nashville, the eclipse began around 11:58 PM CT; the total eclipse occurred between about 1:27PM CT and 1:29PM CT. As such, plenty of country artists were among those watching -- and tweeting about -- the 2017 solar eclipse. In addition to sharing photos of themselves in eclipse-viewing glasses and marveling at how awesome the experience was, some country stars couldn't help but crack jokes.
