Emerson Drive was marking time at number one in 2007, Tim McGraw didn't cry in 2001 and Chely Wright was single in Another World back in 1999.

Here's the rundown for Today In Country Music History for 16 June, 2011.

  • Emerson Drive scored its first Number One single on the Billboard country chart with "Moments" in 2007.
  • Lee Ann Womack, Chely Wright and Kid Rock were among an entourage that headed to the Middle East for a USO tour in 2003.
  • Tim McGraw's "Grown Men Don't Cry" moved in to the top spot on the Billboard country singles list in 2001.
  • Chely Wright appeared as herself on NBC-TV's daytime soap, Another World, in 1999 where she sang her hit "Single White Female" in the show's fictitious club, The Lucky Lady.
  • The Oak Ridge Boys were awarded a gold single for "Elvira" in 1981.

Speaking of Elvira. Here's a quick nod to late night horror movie hosts and funky bass singers with the very unofficial video of Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys. I'll bet you can't listen without singing along!
