If you've never seen George Strait in concert you may want to plan to attend his show during one of his 'The Cowboy Rides Away' tour stops because it will likely be your last chance.

At a press conference today (Sept. 26) at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame, Strait announced that his 2013-2014 tour will be his last - although he was careful to note that retirement is not imminent.  George Strait will embark on his final tour January 18, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas with special guest Martina McBride.  The first 20 cities and dates are already set.

"This is going to be a very special, emotional tour for me,"  Strait says. "Everywhere we're going holds fond memories and I'm looking forward to paying my respects."'

The 60-year-old Country Music Hall of Famer talked about his decision. “I kinda always had it in the back of my mind, when I turned 60 it might be the time to start thinking about it. I didn’t want to show up sometime for a tour and nobody came,” he said. “It was kind of important to me to pick that time . . . I believe I made the right decision. I hope I did. Only time will tell.”

Strait will continue to record and issue singles via MCA, and he will continue to perform at select dates.
