• Gretchen Wilson's "Here For The Party" album went double-platinum in 2004.

• George Strait began a four-week stay at the top of the Billboard chart with "Carrying Your Love With Me" in 1997.

• Love Can Build A Bridge became The Judds' fifth platinum album in 1993.

• Garth Brooks' "Ain't Going Down (Til The Sun Comes Up)" was released in 1993.

• The brakes failed on Dottie West's car on the way to the Grand Ole Opry in 1991. She lost control and hit a wall, but sustained only minor injuries.

• Mickey Gilley's version of the Buddy Holly song "True Love Ways" went to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1980.

• Lefty Frizzell died in Nashville at the age of 47 in 1975.

• Kenny Rogers & the First Edition's "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town" charted in 1969.

• Sun Records released Elvis Presley's first single, "That's All Right," in 1954.
