Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) was in a Christmas mood on this date in 2010, several Grand Ole Opry members played Carnegie Hall on this date in 1961 and The Tractors went platinum without ever going on tour in 1994.

  • Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles hosted the ABC special CMA Country Christmas with Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker and Little Big Town in 2010.
  • Gary Allan earned a gold album for his Greatest Hits in 2007.
  • Trick Pony performed at the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas in 2006. The show marked Heidi Newfield‘s final tour stop as a member of the trio.
  • Alan Jackson‘s first Christmas special, Let It Be Christmas, premiered on CMT in 2002.
  • Little Jimmy Dickens retired from touring in 1997.
  • The Tractors became the first album to go platinum for a country act that had never gone on tour in 1994.
  • Alan Jackson‘s Don’t Rock The Jukebox album went triple-platinum in 1994.
  • Brooks & Dunn‘s Brand New Man became the first album by a country duo certified quadruple-platinum, while their Hard Workin’ Man album went triple-platinum in 1994.
  • Steve Wariner earned the first gold album of his career for I Am Ready in 1994.
  • Grand Ole Opry stars Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves, Bill Monroe, Patsy Cline, Grandpa Jones, and Faron Young performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in a benefit for the Musician’s Aid Society in 1961.
  • Johnny Horton‘s recording of “The Battle Of New Orleans” won the Grammy for Best Country & Western Performance and Song Of The Year in 1959.
