The Wounded Warrior Project has been around for a while, and most of us know someone who's benefited from the program. This Friday evening you'll have a chance to support the project and enjoy some great live music when Jim Hurst visits The Forum on Speedway.

The concert itself is free, but you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the Wounded Warrior Project and support every United States veteran while you're there.

A celebrated bluegrass and fingerstyle guitarist, Jim Hurst has performed with artists as diverse as David Grisman Folk Jazz Trio, Missy Raines and the New Hip, Rob Ickes, John Cowan, Hot Rize and more. Here's his take on Jerry Reed's approach to music.

The product of a musical family, Jim was influenced by the likes of Tony Rice, Clarence White and Jerry Reed. He received national exposure with Holly Dunn's band, Trisha Yearwood, Travis Tritt, the McCarter Sisters and Sara Evans. Jim and Missy Raines were named IBMA Guitar and Bass Player of the Year for 2001 and 2002 when they were performing as a duo.

His schedule stays busy these days with full time touring and teaching at guitar workshops and music camps across North America and Europe. While he occasionally collaborates with bluegrass legends like David Grisman and Rob Ickes he has also found time to release four solo CDs.

The doors will open at 6:30 Friday evening and the show starts at 7:00 at The Forum at 2120 Speedway. There is no admission charge, but donations will be taken for the Wounded Warrior Project.
