It turns out blue ain't Keith Urban's color, either. The country superstar chose a classic black and white motif for the video to his current single, "Blue Ain't Your Color."

Directed by Carter Smith, the clip features Urban as a barroom singer, dressed in a suit and tie and singing the song to the bar's sole patron, an attractvie, lonely woman who is apparently drinking away a heartbreak.

Actor and model Amber Valletta, most recently seen on TV's Blood & Oil, plays the female lead, and she delivers a sultry performance, dancing alone in the bar as Urban and his band play, a scene that highlights both her loneliness and the fact that she probably won't have to be alone for long. A series of tight closeups on Urban, then Valletta create a sense of intimacy between the characters, who are otherwise apparently strangers. But the sequence ends on a blue note, with Valletta's character still alone as the music fades to silence, and with viewers wondering if the music was all in her head the whole time.

Written by Steven Lee Olsen, Hillary Lindsey and Clint Lagerberg, "Blue Ain't Your Color" is the fourth single from Urban's most recent album, Ripcord, which he released in May of 2016. The album's first three singles, "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16," "Break on Me" and "Wasted Time," are some of the most musically adventurous of his career, and all reached No. 1 on Billboard's country charts.

Finding the right feel for the old-meets-new track was critical, according to Urban.

“I wanted to try to mess with that a little bit,” he states. “(You) don’t usually have machinery in a waltz unless you have a cheap-ass organ.”
