We hear a great deal about the education of our youth. One thing kids do not get enough of in a classroom is hands on, real life training. This Saturday, May 2, a number of Wichita Falls area youth will get just that.

America’s Small Business Development Center at MSU (ASBDC) has teamed up with local businesses to bring Lemonade Day to the youth of Wichita Falls.

"Lemonade Day" is a national event involving 54 cities across America. Students in grades K-12 will set up ‘old school’ lemonade stands across Wichita Falls. According to Phoebe Smith, City Director for Lemonade Day-Wichita Falls the event is not a fundraiser. “This is a for-profit lemonade stand…designed to teach children how to operate a business”.

ASBDC Vanda Cullar says participants in Lemonade Day will learn how to maintain their businesses books and have drafted a business plan as part of the preparation for Saturday.

There will be 17 different lemonade stands set up around the city, including one in Parker Square during Townsquare Media’s semi-annual Biggest Garage Salee sale in the covered parking lot behind Fidelity Bank along at Kemp and Kell.

The kids need you to come out and show your support and enjoy some ice-cold lemonade, too!  A complete list of lemonade stand locations can be found here.
