Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks and Billy Ray Cirus – Today In Country Music History

Luke Bryan appears on the Grand Ole Opry, Garth scores his fifth #1 hit, and Billy Ray Cyrus releases Achy Breaky Heart in today's Today In Country Music History for April 6th, 2011.

It never ceases to amaze me how the British latch onto American Country Music. I was watching a BBC crime drama with a scene set in a London pub and in the background was a British band trying valiantly to play Achy Breaky Heart. I totally lost track of the conversation in the foreground for laughing out loud.

• Luke Bryan made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2007.

• Mac Davis was announced as an inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.

• Montgomery Gentry's debut album, Tattoos & Scars, was released in 1999.

• Tammy Wynette died at her home in Nashville at age 55 of a blood clot in 1998.

• Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" was released in 1992.

• Garth Brooks' "Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House" became his fifth Number One hit in 1991.

• Brenda Lee debuted on the country chart with "One Step At A Time" in 1957.
