A tragic accident has left one man dead after a concrete collapse during a home repair in Petrolia, Tex Wednesday morning (3/15).

According to a Clay County deputy, a foundation repair crew with Mendoza Leveling out of Wichita Falls was working on leveling the concrete porch of a home in the 400 block of North Highway 79.

The job required the crew to dig underneath the porch to place equipment, at which point another concrete porch was discovered underneath the existing porch.

The substructure had become loosened with the digging and collapsed on top of a member of the crew, trapping him while he was underneath the porch.

Fellow crew members reportedly tried to rescue the man identified as 36-year-old Luis Michael Bounds of Electra, but were unable to get him out.

Bounds' body has been sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
