The Federal Reserve released a new high tech $100 today, two years after its planned release. Some of the safety measures included on the bill are a 3-D security ribbon, color-shifting ink, and an ink well that changes to reveal the Liberty Bell.

Surprisingly, the $100 is the most commonly circulated bill behind the $1 bill, with about 8.6 billion of them in circulation.

The Federal Reserve was able to continue the roll-out of the new bills despite the government shutdown because, as CNN Money puts it, “their budget is not included in the current congressional appropriations stalemate.”
