During the annual off-road event 'Rednecks With Paychecks' in Saint Jo, Texas on Saturday (Oct 26), an off-road racing enthusiast was struck by lightning twice - and survived.

Severe storms with heavy rain and lightening rolled into North Texas Saturday afternoon.

Looking for shelter from the storm, 31-year-old Casey Wagner was under a tree when he was hit by lightning. He dropped to his knees then he was struck again. Wagner says he saw sparks during the strikes.

A nurse who happened to be nearby cared for Wagner until he was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Wagner said he lost some feeling in his leg and his arm, but later told CBS-DFW, “I’ve got all the feeling back. It just feels like my whole body is waking up from… like if your arm falls asleep, that’s how my whole body feels,”

Doctors told him the tingling feeling would last for about a week.

Wagner says he believes God kept him alive — and he plans to start going to church more.

According to the National Lightening Safety Institute, the odds of a person being struck by lightening is 1 in 280,000.
