Bowling For Soup – Rock Band


 

 

The pop-punk band, Bowling for Soup, formed in Wichita Falls, Tx in 1994.

“In 1998, the band relocated to Denton, Tx and recorded their second studio album, third overall, Rock on Honorable Ones!! (a reference to S.H. Rider's motto ROHO”–Ride On Honorable Ones”-Wikipedia.

The band then signed with Jive Records and their major album debut Let's Do It for Johnny!! was released in 2000.

Mia Hamm – Professional Soccer Player


 

 

Mia Hamm's parents were military, so  she moved around a lot.  She spent some time in Wichita Falls playing soccer at Notre Dame Catholic High School her freshman and sophomore years. Later in 1991, Hamm became the youngest American woman to win a World Cup championship at the age of nineteen.

Frances Reid – Soap Opera Actress


 

 

Actress Frances Reid was born in Wichita Falls. She has a lengthy film and Broadway acting career dating back to 1937. She is best known for her portrayal of Alice Horton on NBC daytime Soap Opera “Day's of our Lives”. She died at age 95 in California.

Phyllis Coates – Actress


 

 

Phyllis Coates was born in Wichita Falls. She later moved to California in attempt to attend UCLA. Instead she was swept up with a film career that led to being the first actress to play Lois Lane in 26 episodes of the “Adventures of Superman” (1952). Later she played Lois Lane's mother on an episode of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” (1993). She is still alive and has been in a long list of films, but  she is not currently acting anymore.

Greyson Chance – Singer, Songwriter and Pianist


 

 

New success Greyson Chance was born in Wichita Falls but currently resides in Edmond Oklahoma. He was brought on The Ellen DeGeneres Show after Ellen DeGeneres saw his You Tube video of him singing Lady Gaga's song “Paparazzi”. He also won the 2010 YouTube Artist awards for the Hollywood Teen TV Awards. His new album called “Hold on 'til the Night”  just released August 2, 2011.
