Big & Rich made their Grand Ole Opry debut on this date in 2006, Elvis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998 and Rodney Crowell had the number one song in the country in 1989.

• Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy made their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2006.

• Mindy McCready was checked into Nashville's St. Thomas Hospital after swallowing about 30 anti-depressant pills in 2005.

• Elvis Presley, Tammy Wynette, George Morgan and Bud Wendell were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame of 1998.

• Rodney Crowell went to Number One on the Billboard country chart with a remake of Buck Owens' "Above And Beyond" in 1989.

• George Strait recorded his Number One hit, "All My Ex's Live in Texas," in 1986.

• Conway Twitty's version of "I Can't Stop Loving You" climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1972.

• Hank Williams recorded "Take These Chains From My Heart," "Kaw-liga" and "Your Cheatin' Heart" in his final recording session at the Castle Studio in Nashville's Tulane Hotel in 1952.

And here's one of my favorite more recent Rodney Crowell tunes. He took  a bit of flack for tweaking one of Johnny Chash's most notable songs, but even Johnny like it in the end. Heck, he even re-sang some of his old lines!
