Sugarland Goes Green, Toby Keith Rocks Out – Today In Country Music History

Sugarland played for the Democratic National Convention in 2008, Toby Keith jammed with Joe Perry from Aerosmith in 2007, Johnny Paycheck recorded a song that people love to sing along with in 1977 and more.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 24 August, 2012.

  • Sugarland performed “Want To” and “All I Want To Do” at a Green Sunday concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver in 2008. The show was associated with the Democratic National Convention, and also featured Sheryl Crow and Dave Matthews.
  • Toby Keith was joined by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry for a version of “Mystery Train” during a show at the Darien Lake Theme Resort Park near Buffalo, New York in 2007. The performance was filmed by ABC-TV for the two-hour special, Elvis: Viva Las Vegas.
  • Tim McGraw‘s Live Like You Were Dying CD was released in 2004.
  • Jo Dee Messina‘s album Burn was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies in 2000.
  • Joe Diffie and Debra Diffie divorced in 1994.
  • Radney Foster filed for divorce from Mary Springs Scarborough Foster in 1994.
  • Waylon Jennings was arrested on a charge of conspiracy and possession of cocaine in 1977.
  • Johnny Paycheck recorded the Number One hit “Take This Job And Shove It” in 1977.
  • Hank Snow recorded his last Number One hit, “Hello Love,” in 1973.
  • Jeannie C. Riley‘s “Harper Valley P.T.A.” entered the country chart in 1968.
