Some sad news coming out of College Station of a freshman sadly passing away.

Texas A&M Currently Investigating the Death of a Student

News broke early Sunday morning of a police presence outside of Dunn Hall on Texas A&M's campus. Dunn Hall is an on campus residence for Texas A&M students. According to several sources, a freshmen health major named Britney Romero was found deceased in a courtyard near the hall. It is believed she fell from a third floor balcony of the hall.

Texas A&M's on campus newspaper The Battalion has a statement from president of Student Affair's Jose Ramirez Junior. It looks like an investigation is currently underway into the death.

“We want to emphasize that Texas A&M’s top priority is our commitment to the well-being and safety of all our students,” Ramirez wrote. “We intend to conduct a thorough and comprehensive review of what happened immediately.We encourage our Aggie community to come together to support one another, as we always do at times like this, while also praying for and supporting Britney’s family and all those grieving this tragic loss."

Any students at Texas A&M who need grief counseling are encouraged to speak with University Health Services counselors or caseworkers at Student Assistance Services, who also are available on standby. Students can use the TELUS Health Support App or call A&M’s HelpLine is available from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends at 979-845-2700.
