Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish got off to a shaky start last night in his Major League debut, but eventually settled down and turned in a strong performance earning his first big league victory against the Seattle Mariners in front of about 42,000 Yu-phoric fans at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Darvish gave up 4 runs on 4 hits in the 1st inning. It may have been nerves, or the pressure to perform after signing a 6-year, $60 million contract. The Rangers cut the Mariners lead in half with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, which may have had a calming effect on Darvish as he gave up just one more run before being relieved with 2 outs in the 6th.

Darvish got some help from the Rangers' big bats as they cranked out 4 homers. The Rangers defense also stepped up and made some great plays against the Mariners on their way to an 11-5 victory.

What do you think - does Yu Darvish have what it takes to be a 20-game winner this season?
