Country and Bluegrass music are sorta cousins. They share a lot of the same instruments, and have a lot in common, yet they can be completely different. For instance a lot of Country music involves electric guitars and drums.

You won't find either of those in Bluegrass.

Bluegrass is almost exclusively acoustic instruments. Being a huge acoustic guitar fan, that's why I'm happy to hear that the Sixth Annual Wichita Falls Bluegrass Festival is coming soon!

It's inside the MPEC again this summer. That's just a little disappointing since most "Festivals" are outside, but quite a relief since the event is scheduled for Friday August 12th and Saturday, August 13th. I doubt we'll have cooled off much by then and that air conditioning is gonna feel really good with all those hot licks being played on the stage!

This year's lineup looks really good, too. It includes the Hunt Family Bluegrass, the White House Harmony, Rockin' Acoustic Circus, Buddy & Tina Wright, Salt Grass, Triple L Family, Hank & Company and Southbound Mule.

Here's a sample of what the Rockin' Acoustic Circus sounds like.

I think this is the first time I've seen a cello in a Bluegrass band, but it works!

Bluegrass Festivals pride themselves on being family friendly, so bring the kids and enjoy some live music inside the MPEC - where it's air conditioned - at the Sixth Annual Wichita Falls Bluegrass Festival.
