  • Country Music Hall of Famer Buck Owens died in his sleep at his Bakersfield home in 2006.
  • Mindy McCready gave birth to her son, Zander Ryan McCready, in Nashville in 2006.
  • Josh Gracin performed the Garth Brooks hit “Ain’t Going Down (Til The Sun Comes Up)” on FOX-TV’s American Idol in 2003.
  • Reba McEntire took the top spot on the Billboard country chart with “New Fool At An Old Game” in 1989.
  • Garth Brooks made his chart debut with “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” in 1989.
  • Randy Travis‘ “Forever And Ever, Amen” was released in 1987.
  • Eddie Rabbitt picked up a gold record for “Drivin’ My Life Away” in 1981.
  • Lynn Anderson earned the only gold album of her career with “Rose Garden” in 1971.
  • Johnny Cash recorded the Number One single “Ring Of Fire” in 1963.
  • Roy Orbison recorded his first hit, “Only The Lonely,” in 1960.
  • Hank Williams’ Number One single “Long Gone Lonesome Blues” charted in 1950.
