It's really kind of strange that a Dutchman living in Texas would have such a fondness for traditional Irish music, but I do. So I was happy to learn that a bit of old Ireland is coming to Wichita Falls this weekend with Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones at the Iron Horse Pub Saturday night. I was even happier when The Iron Horse Pub asked me to give away a couple pairs of tickets!

Danny from the Pub say's it's like the Country Music of Ireland. I don't know about that, but here's a bit of PR for the band.

Nominated as Ireland's Best Traditional Folk Group, touring over 150 shows in 2011, throughout seven different countries, Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones are known throughout the world for their quality musical presentation of Irish patriotic songs and traditional music featuring top class fiery introductions from their lead singer, songwriter and storyteller, Derek Warfield.

An outstanding singer, stage personality, composer and historian of the music and song tradition, Derek Warfield is a legend wherever Irish roots have been put down. He has enjoyed phenomenal success for some 40 years with the old Wolfe Tones, with best-selling albums, number one hits, television appearances and shows in Carnegie Hall, New York and the Royal Albert Hall, London. Added to that, Derek has been prolific as a solo artist, with an astonishing eleven albums in just over a decade.

And here's a sample of what you'll hear.

Your chance to win tickets happens between 3:00 and 7:00 this afternoon on Lonestar 102.3.
