Wichita Falls Man Arrested After Throwing Rocks at Police and Challenging an Officer to a Fist Fight
You've got to give credit to the Wichita Falls Police Department for how they handled this situation. No shots had to be fired even though a Wichita Falls man threw rocks at a police car, challenged officers to a fist fight, and tried to flee the scene. Instead they were able to use non-lethal force and the suspect is now behind bars.
This crazy story all started at around 2:45 PM yesterday (Aug. 31st) when WFPD officers responded a possible criminal mischief report in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. While they were looking for the suspect, 31-year-old Bryan Ray walked by. Allegedly Ray picked up a large rock and threw it at the windshield of the WFPD patrol car.
When officers tried to approach Ray he squared up in the middle of the road with his fists clenched and asked the cops if they wanted to fight him. They instead just asked him what his name was and that's when Ray took off running.
As the officers chased him, Ray picked up some rocks and started throwing them at the officers. At one point they say he also ran at them and tried swinging his fist. That's when the officers used their taser and brought the suspect to the ground.
Ray was cuffed without any more attempts to instigate a fist fight. The officers transported him to the Wichita County jail where he was charged with four counts of assault on a public servant and evading. No injuries, to the officers or the suspect, were reported.
