The Wichita Falls Nighthawks, the new minor professional league football team in town, held  a press conference Thursday morning (10/4) to announce that  NFL star and New York Jets quarterback, Tim Tebow, will be gracing the field at Memorial Stadium to help commemorate the Nighthawks inaugural game on February 17, 2013.

Nighthawks General Manager, Jerry Hughes lead the press conference inside the new Nighthawks retail store located in Parker Square. Hughes said that for the Nighthawks first game they will be taking on the current MPFL national champs, the North Texas Stampede. Tim Tebow will be on the field to take part in the honorary coin toss to start the game. After the 1st quarter, 25 lucky fans in attendance will get the opportunity to hang with Tebow in the VIP tent for the rest of the game. Hughes went on to say that there will be an autographed Tebow jersey and helmet giveaway during the game as well. Tim Tebow will close out the game with the presentation of a donation to a local Wichita Falls youth organization.

When questioned if he was worried about what level of support the Nighthawks will get from the community, Hughes explained that, "...the Wichita Falls Nighthawks understand that Wichita Falls is a true sports town that knows the difference between a watered-down sports organization and a true sports organization. We just want to see a good sports product in Wichita Falls..."  With top quality players from around the country and the promise of quality entertainment to boot, a superb sports product is exactly what the Nighthawks intend to provide. Hughes says that the Nighthawks have already gained a high level of respect from within the MPFL and are being considered one of the top organizations in the country.

The Nighthawks season will consist of 10 games - 5 regular season and 5 playoff - with the MPFL championship game set to be held here in Wichita Falls. The nighthawks full schedule will be released within the next 30 days.
