UPDATE: Wichita Falls Police Investigate Shooting on McNiel Avenue

UPDATE: Police have identified the deceased man as 50 year-old Jeffery Rohling of Wichita Falls.  Rohling died of a gunshot wound to the chest.  Sources tell News Talk 1290 that Rohling may have been retrieving a shotgun from the trunk of a car when the weapon accidentally discharged.  Rohling was co-owner and business manager of Mathnasium here in Wichita Falls.

A passerby discovered the body of a man in front of the garage of a home on McNiel Avenue near Cromwell.  The body was discovered at around 2:45 pm Wednesday.  Police say the man had been shot, apparently by his own gun, although the exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.  Police say it does not appear to be a homicide.  The shooting remains under investigation.  The man’s identity has not yet been officially released.
