The Wichita Falls City Council approved the increase of city’s water rates Tuesday, August 5. Water rates have increased by 53 percent effective immediately. City officials say residents can expect to see an increase of as much as 22 percent by their next bill. These percentages do not include any other services.

The decision to increase the cost of water comes weeks after the city officially began the Direct Potable Reuse Project. We caught up with a few residents to get their opinion on the hike in water rates. Watch the video above to hear what they had to say.

What do you think about the water rate increase? Is it something that needed to happen in order for Wichita Falls to continue to flourish as a city, or is it just a way for city officials to get more money out of residents? Tell us what ya think in the comment section below!
