Willie Nelson Sings For The President, Jimmy Olander Runs – Today In Country Music History

Billy Currington played the Opry in 2003, Jimmy Olander (Diamond Rio) ran a half marathon in 2009 and Willie Nelson sang for the President in 1978.

  • Diamond Rio‘s Jimmy Olander ran 13.1 miles in the Country Music Marathon and Half-Marathon in two hours, 10 minutes in 2009. Marty Roe completed it in 2:20, and The Dancehall DoctorsJeff McMahon did it in 3:36.
  • Lonestar guitarist Michael Britt and his wife, Rene, welcomed daughter Hillary Quinn Britt in 2005.
  • Billy Currington made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2003.
  • Sara Evans had a blister removed from her vocal cords at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2003.
  • K. T. Oslin‘s “80’s Ladies” entered the charts in 1987.
  • The Judds received their first platinum album for Why Not Me in 1986.
  • Willie Nelson performed for President Jimmy Carter at the White House in 1978.
