Zac Brown Band Perform ‘Colder Weather’ With Blind Fan [Watch]
Zac Brown Band fulfilled a young fan's wish when they invited her to join them onstage during a show in Charlotte, N.C. on Sept. 15. Brianna Shirley is a legally blind teen who resides in South Carolina and is a huge fan of the band.
Frontman Zac Brown learned of the fan through a YouTube video of the teen singing some of the band's songs, posted by her grandmother. He's performed with her a number of times over the last four years.
Last week, Shirley walked out on stage with Brown and sang a minute of the moving ballad "Colder Weather" as Brown stood beside her. The audience enjoyed every moment, as they could be heard screaming along. After she handed the microphone back to the country star and he gave her a big hug, she was escorted off the stage — once again to screams.
"What a sweet voice. Come on now!" Brown told his audience, enticing more cheers.
Zac Brown is no stranger to helping kids, and during a recent press event at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tenn., the singer revealed that his camp is very close to being finished.
Brown's Camp Southern Ground will be open for all children to attend nine weeks out of the year, and it places a special emphasis on kids with neurobehavioral disorders or social or emotional challenges.
“It’s absolutely an incredible building and it really sets the bar,” he told press at the opening of the band’s exhibit at the museum in July. “Camp Southern Ground is a lot more than a camp. It’s more of a campus.”
