It was on this day 30 years ago that the famous Apple's famous "1984" commercial first aired. It was during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984.

There are many thoughts that cross my mind when hearing this news. First and formost, remember when the Super Bowl used to actually happen in January? Past that, though, it's pretty amazing to see what Apple has done in those 30 years. I'm an Android guy, but even I can see the amazing things that Apple brought to the masses: home computers, the iPod, the iPhone, just to name a few. Not to mention that if it wasn't for the Macintosh computer, the movie Blank Check would have been very very different.

The commercial itself was really a work of art. It used images of George Orwell's 1984 and represented breaking out of the conformity by buying an Apple. This image is still basically what the company tries to represent to consumers today.
