38 Special keyboardist and singer Bobby Capps and the members of 3 Doors Down have teamed for a new song and video titled "In the Blink of an Eye." The song serves as the title track of a much-anticipated new documentary titled Blink of an Eye, which explores the relationship between NASCAR drivers Michael Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and its video is premiering exclusively with Taste of Country.

Produced and directed by multiple Emmy-winning director Paul Taublieb via Taublieb Films, Blink of an Eye is a theatrical documentary that details the seemingly unlikely friendship between former NASCAR racer Waltrip and Earnhardt. Earnhardt was an icon of the sport, while Waltrip was a perennial underdog who was coming off of a record-breaking streak of 462 losses in a row going into the Daytona 500 in 2001. Waltrip won that race only after Earnhardt uncharacteristically broke with his reputation as "The Intimidator" and let him in line late in the race, after which Waltrip was able to take the lead and ultimately win. It was an act of kindness that cost Earnhardt his life, as he was involved in a fatal crash during the last lap of the race.

Based on Waltrip and Ellis Henican's best-selling book In the Blink of an Eye: Dale, Daytona, and the Day that Changed Everything, Blink of an Eye details that day, its emotional aftermath and how Waltrip was ultimately able to overcome that tragedy and persevere. Centering around Taublieb's penetrating interviews with Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Richard Childress and Waltrip’s brother, Darrell Waltrip, Blink of an Eye tells one of the most powerful stories in the history of American sports.

Capps and 3 Doors Down collaborated on "In the Blink of an Eye," which they debuted with a live performance on Fox & Friends over the weekend. Monster Energy Vice President of Sports Marketing Mitch Covington wrote the song especially for the film, and the track has a definite country vibe. Capps and 3 Doors Down shot the video above in Nashville, interspersing studio footage with scenes from the film to create a powerful video that NASCAR fans are sure to love.

"I’m honored to have a small part in saluting the heroes of a sport so dear to my heart," Capps tells Taste of Country. "Sundays on my band’s tour bus are filled with the sights and sounds of NASCAR! Michael Waltrip’s one of a kind untold story should be an inspiration to all!”

Taublieb Films produced and directed the film in association with NASCAR and Monster Energy. Blink of an Eye is set to premiere in theaters on Sept. 12.
