An Astronaut Played Bagpipes In Space For The First Time Ever [VIDEO]
While arguing over Starbucks cups and country music awards shows for the last week, you may have missed out on a historic first for mankind. On Saturday, November 7th, for the first time ever, a human played the bag pipes in space! Thanks, Science!
Astronaut Kjell Lindgren was the man who performed the landmark musical number. The bagpipes were custom designed and made of plastic. They are easier to clean and lighter than normal, specifically for their use on the International Space Station.
Lindgren decided to performed the song 'Amazing Grace' as a memorial for a colleague. It was a way to honor research scientist Victor Hurst, a former instructor who died last month.
