ATVs are meant for off-road use, not for speeding alongside cars and trucks. In Texas, there are specific rules about where these vehicles can be driven, and highways are pretty much off-limits. Because of that, safety experts say this situation could have been dangerous for both the rider and everyone else on the road.

City officials haven’t said whether the rider was ticketed, but they did point out that driving an ATV in regular traffic isn’t just risky. It is also illegal in most situations.
