Base Camp Lindsey will host "March of Honor," a ruck march fundraiser, on Saturday, May 2, in downtown Wichita Falls. Participants can ruck for one mile, five miles or 10 miles. The "March of Honor" is sponsored by The Carlson Law Firm.

Base Camp Lindsey supports homeless veterans in Wichita Falls. The "March of Honor" will raise funds for the nonprofit to help better serve homeless veterans in Wichita Falls. Each ruck participant can make a contribution to Base Camp Lindsey through various tiers, and can also support homeless veterans with items to weigh their rucksack.

Online registration is available for Base Camp Lindsey's "March of Honor" ruck march. Below are the tiers participants can select from to sign up for the ruck march. No matter which tier is selected, each rucker will have the choice of rucking one, five or 10 miles.

Honor Rucker - $35

  • Cost helps provide essential support to homeless veterans, such as a birth certificate or bus pass, and aid in steps toward employment and stability.
  • Honor Ruckers will receive a commemorative finisher medal.

Service Rucker - $75

  • Costs can help provide one night in a motel for a homeless veteran.
  • Service Ruckers will receive a finisher medal and an event t-shirt.

Endurance Rucker - $125

  • Costs can help cover a utility deposit, helping a veteran transition into stable housing.
  • Endurance Ruckers will receive a finisher medal, an event t-shirt and a branded tumbler.

Legacy Rucker - $250

  • Cost can help stock a full pantry for a veteran moving into housing.
  • Legacy Ruckers will receive a finisher medal and event hoodie.

Mission Rucker - $500

  • Cost can help provide an apartment security deposit for a homeless veteran.
  • Mission Ruckers will receive a finisher medal, event hoodie and branded tumbler.

The route will include four rest stops, including the finish line. Each rest stop will be managed by a volunteer and will be stocked with refreshments, hydration, shade and basic first aid.

Ruckpacks will be unpacked at the end of the event to support homeless veterans in Wichita Falls.

Participants in the "March of Honor" can use anything they'd like as weight in their rucksacks. However, Base Camp Lindsey encourages participants to use items that can be donated to homeless veterans, including hygiene supplies, ready-to-eat foods, sunscreen, bug spray, electrolyte drinks and basic first aid items. At the end of the "March of Honor," participants will be encouraged to empty their weighted rucksacks.
