"Trailer trap" artist Blanco Brown has a country chart hit on his hands. His song "The Git Up" as at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of July 13.

In its fifth week on the Hot Country Songs chart, "The Git Up" jumped from No. 4 to No. 1. According to Billboard, the track climbed to No. 1 on that chart faster than any song has since 2017, when Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" rose to the chart's top spot in only two weeks.

In addition to its rule on the Hot Country Songs chart, "The Git Up" is also at the top of the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts. It's in the Top 10 (No. 16) on the all-genre Hot 100 chart as well.

Signed to BBR Music Group / BMG in 2018, Brown recently released his debut EP, a self-titled project, but he's a music industry vet. The Georgia native — he spent his school years in Atlanta and his summers in the state's more rural areas — has produced for artists including Kane Brown, Fergie and Childish Gambino.

"'The Git Up' is dedicated to my grandmother telling us every morning, 'Get up. Go do something productive in the world,'" Brown explains. "It's about messages [in] my music; bigger than anything is chasing your purpose in life."

In addition to his production talents, Brown is proficient in a number of instruments, from the guitar to the spoons, and a dancer, as his music video for "The Git Up" shows. The song's lyrics are essentially the steps to a line dance; the song's popularity is, in part, due to those moves becoming a challenge on the TikTok app.
