Brad Pitt Bid $120,000 to Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ With Emilia Clarke
Most of us are content to wait for Game of Thrones Blu-rays to enjoy actors’ commentary, but – if you’re Brad Pitt and have the cash – you go for the real thing. The actor reportedly bid upwards of $120,000 to watch an episode of the HBO fantasy drama with none other than the Khaleesi herself.
According to Variety, Pitt attended Sean Penn’s annual gala for Haiti with an eye to drop some serious gold on one of the evening’s top bids – a chance to watch Game of Thrones with Emilia Clarke. Bidding began at $20,000, and eventually climbed to $90,000, before Kit Harington’s offer to sit in on the viewing sent Pitt’s final offer to $120,000. Tragically, Pitt was nonetheless outbid at $160,000.
Both Clarke and Harington were in attendance of the event, but the latter had reportedly stepped out of the room when the auctioneer jokingly asked “Is the King of the North here?!” That’s Jon Snow for you – always running off when his Queen needs him most, but still making time for Brad Pitt. Look, I’m not great with analogies.
Either way, it isn’t clear when the viewing might take place, or exactly what episode Clarke and her guest might be sitting down for. As HBO confirmed this last week, the final episodes are officially relegated to 2019. Stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
