Brett Eldredge has been busy exploring one particular decade to find new musical inspiration for his next record.

"I've been going back in time to the '70s ... I'm listening to a lot of the Band and Van Morrison," the singer revealed during a recent press event in Nashville. "I used to not really be into Bob Dylan, but now I'm on a crazy kick where I listen to him all the time.

"It's really inspired me a lot to step up my songwriting game," Eldredge adds, "and I'm learning how to paint the picture even more."

The 33-year-old country star says he's found himself connecting with the raw energy and emotion of some of the era's most beloved artists. "[I've been] digging into stuff that I was raised on and things that have the organic sound that's just simple but so catchy and says something on such a deep level. That's the stuff I've been spending time with and getting on vinyl," Eldredge shares.

Eldredge's urge to go analog has gone far beyond just switching out online streaming for physical records. Over the past few months, he's opted to take a step back from using social media and even swapped out his smartphone for a simple, scaled-back flip phone.

Although Eldredge says he hasn't yet started recording the follow-up to his 2017 self-titled LP, he's been hard at work penning an array of new tracks. He credits his new perspective on what really matters in life for this new wave of creative inspiration.

"I'm taking the time to really slow it down. All the outside noise, I've cut most of it out, and its been a profound experience on such a deeper level of anything I've ever written or created in my music career," Eldredge shares. "I think it's going to be really cool."
