Chemical Spill And Fire At Local Plant

Wichita Falls Fire Department Haz-Mat crews responded to call about a chemical spill and possible fire at Texas Recreation Corporation in the 900 block of North Beverly Drive at around 9:00 am.   Wichita Falls Traffic Control also responded and diverted traffic off of North Beverly Drive while officials assessed and contained the chemical spill.  One source tells us that a series of chemicals were being mixed when the container caught fire and a large quantity of the chemical was spilled.  Fire and Haz-Mat crews responded and the plant was evacuated.  No injuries have been reported and traffic flow along North Beverly has been restored as of noon.  A special Haz-Mat crew has been dispatched from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to complete the clean-up process.  Texas Recreation Corporation is the manufacturer of the Super Soft line of promotional products as well as pool and other recreational foam products.
