Chris Stapleton had the time of his life on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night (Nov. 4). The country star teamed up with actor Chris Pratt to duet on "(I've Had) the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing.

The song originally appeared in the classic film in 1987, performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" was a pivotal part of the climactic scene in the film, serving as the backdrop to Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey's dance sequence.

Pratt began the performance, and Stapleton joined in later. The stars, who are friends in real life, are hilarious in the song/comedy sketch in the video above, lampooning the romantic feel of the song by holding hands and delivering the lyrics singing into each other's eyes. They even attempt to re-create the dramatic lift that ends the classic dance sequence, which turns out to be somewhat ill-advised in this instance.

Stapleton not only took part in that sketch, he served as the musical guest on Monday night and then sat down for an interview with Pratt, who was guest hosting. The two have been friends ever since Pratt posted to Instagram about his admiration for Stapleton's singing, and they shared a fun story about Stapleton's two-night concert stand at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena in October. The guys apparently hit the town pretty hard after one of the shows.

"I proceeded to drink doubles and chase them with shots," Stapleton relates in the video below.

That was a bit too much for Pratt, though he's scarcely a teetotaler himself.

"I pride myself on being able to hold my liquor," Pratt observed, adding, "at one point, I said, 'I'm done.'"
