A wild scene was recently captured on video in a North Dallas backyard. At first, it looked like two animals were just spinning around, maybe even dancing. But nope. These rascals were having a full-on fight for survival.

The guy who saw it all was just a regular homeowner who probably thought his biggest problem was remembering trash day. But when he caught this showdown on camera, he couldn’t believe it. The coyote lunged. The opossum dodged. The fight got intense. And then the coyote backed off and ran away, totally defeated.

Why Are Coyotes Everywhere Now?

If you live in North Texas, you’ve probably heard about coyotes showing up more often. That’s because their homes, which are big open fields and forests, are getting taken over by buildings and roads. So, they’re moving into neighborhoods, looking for food wherever they can find it. That means you might see one sneaking around at night, sniffing out trash, or eyeing small pets.

Coyotes in the city have gotten pretty smart. They know how to dodge traffic, sneak through backyards, and grab an easy meal when they can. But as this tough little opossum proved, not every animal is going to be an easy snack.
