
Dallas Cowboys Netflix Doc Shows My High School Friend’s Punt Drop
By far, the greatest athlete in my high school when I was there was a kid named Jason Tucker, who was one grade below me. He played all the sports, but most notably football, where he played wide receiver. We were both on the mile relay team in track, which was really the only time we interacted a lot, but he was cool.
We were in a tiny little town south of Waco, Texas, called Robinson, which had a population of under 5,000 people at that time. Tiny. Which is why it was so absolutely remarkable when Jason made it on the 1999 Dallas Cowboys. That's Tucker wearing number 16 sitting next to Jason Garrett on the bottom row in the picture below. He switched to number 87 after this photo was taken.

He played in the 1999 and 2000 seasons, playing at both wide receiver and kickoff returner. In one of the latter episodes, after covering the rise to winning three Super Bowls in the early nineties, they start talking about how the team starts slipping in 1999, and they show a clip of my man JT dropping a punt or a kickoff. Why'd y'all have to do him like that?! I nearly choked on my popcorn when I saw this.
