Is This Texas?

A recent cold snap turned one backyard waterfall into a mesmerizing frozen display which you can check out for yourself by scrolling to the video below. The icy formation, seemingly frozen in time, looks more like something from a northern climate than a typical Texas backyard.

Arctic Air Mass

While temperatures in Lubbock can dip below freezing in the winter months, sustained cold spells long enough to freeze running water are relatively rare. According to meteorologists, the recent frigid conditions were the result of an Arctic air mass sweeping through the region, bringing temperatures well below normal for this time of year.
