There's no doubt that by now you have seen many of your Facebook friends changing their picture to a pic of a giraffe.  There's a reason for this...and they are all wrong about it!

This all started a couple days ago and has gone viral around Facebook.  It comes about when someone post this riddle to their page:

I have had to change my profile pic to a giraffe. I tried to answer a riddle and got it wrong.
Try the great giraffe challenge. The deal is I give you a riddle, and if you get it right you keep your profile pic. If you get it wrong you change your profile pic to a giraffe for the next 3 days! Message me only the answers!!!!! Don't give out the answer!
Here Is the riddle; 3am the doorbell rings and you wake up it's your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese . What is the 1st thing you open? Remember message me only! If you get it right I will post your name here otherwise you change your picture to a giraffe!!

SPOILER ALERT!

Here is the problem. The correct answer should be the door.  If you guess any of the items, you are forgetting that you had to know it was your parents first. But, when you answer the correct answer (door) you are then told that you are wrong, cause the first thing you open is your eyes when you wake up.

Now, anyone with a basic understanding of English and present/past tenses of words can tell you why eyes can't be the answer.  The story starts by saying that you woke up.  Therefore you opened your eyes.  If the riddle said "What was the first thing you opened" then it would be fine.  If the riddle didn't say that you woke up but instead said, "You are asleep at 3am when the doorbell rings" then it would be fine.

Come on people, this is just as bad as using your instead of you're.  We can read, why do we keep perpetuating something that is written wrong?
