If you've ever had thoughts about harvesting some fresh mushrooms for your dinner table, you better beware. According to Only In Your State, one of the most toxic and poisonous mushrooms grows in Texas every year. The scary part is that this mushroom looks very close to those that are edible.

The mushroom I'm talking about is the Amanita Phalloides or also known as the Death Cap mushroom. This one is ornery. As little as half of this mushroom can kill a human adult. Many deaths worldwide are attributed to this species of mushroom. The Death Cap contains a toxin that can cause kidney and liver failure.

Knowledge is power. What does this dangerous mushroom look like? Keep scrolling to find out.

Any wilderness survivalist will tell you it's incredibly difficult to identify some species of mushrooms. In most cases, it's nothing that you can learn from a book. You have to be shown in the field by an expert. Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of this mushroom is it looks similar to species that are edible. The straw mushroom and Caesar's mushroom are two examples.
