We're a week and a half away from the Hotter'N Hell Hundred and if you're taking part in the big ride. A local doctor has some tips for you so that you can finish the 100 mile journey.

Hotter'N Hell Hundred August 24, 2024

The Hotter'N Hell Hundred has a full weekend of events, but the big day is August 24th where the 100 mile ride will be taking place. For you folks saying, "Riding 100 miles in this Wichita Falls heat is crazy." Don't worry, it starts at a 10K and they have a bunch of different rides you can take part in if 100 miles is too much for you.

Dr. Ohman Joins Me in the Studio Before HH100

Dr. Ohman has been a part of the Hotter'N Hell 100 for several years now. He has a staff that is ready to help out on the big ride for anybody that injures themself along their journey. This could be something like falling off your bike or dehydration during the ride. If you're having any sort of medical issue, the rest stops along the way will get you the medical attention that you need.

What Should You Do on Race Day?

I encourage anybody doing the 100 mile ride next Saturday to listen to the whole interview above. Dr Ohman mentions not doing anything out of the ordinary on ride day. Try to eat what you would normally eat on a given day. Also drink when you're thirsty. Many folks think they need to never stop drinking water during the ride. Also mix in something with some minerals along your journey. Water is good, but it looks like this year we will actually be Hotter'N Hell on ride day. So something with electrolytes will help you and some folks do pickle juice. I hate pickles, so count me out on that one.

Hotter'N Hell Hundred Starting Line

Thanks to our friends at Bicycle ER, we will be broadcasting like from the starting line at 5AM. The ride officially gets underway just after 7AM.
