Snow is on people's minds this week, so let's look back at some historic snowfall in our area.
Wichita Falls Christmas Eve Blizzard of 2009
For folks that wanted a White Christmas in Wichita Falls, you sure got it back in 2009 when 7.8 inches was dumped on Wichita Falls. This is the most recent snowstorm that people in Wichita Falls remember. However it is not the worst when it comes to snow in our area.
The Worst Snowstorm in Wichita Falls History (January 18, 1925)
It's very doubtful that someone is still alive today that remembers when Wichita Falls was pounded by 9.8 inches of snow. Without a doubt, the worst one day snowfall in Wichita Falls history.
The Blizzard of 1989, Worst Multiple Day Snowfall in Wichita Falls History
Looking back at the winter of 1989, it was brutal all over the country. Above you can see footage of Southern California dealing with snow. Parts of Florida also experienced snow for the first time in decades during that winter. Wichita Falls was not safe from the snow in 1989. From March 6th to March 8th that year, Wichita Falls got hit with 9.9 inches of snow. The worst multiple day in a row snow accumulation in Wichita Falls history.
Worst Snow Season in Wichita Falls History
When it comes to the worst total winter in Wichita Falls history, you would have to go back to December of 1905. From the beginning to the end of December, Wichita Falls was hit in total with 20 inches of snow.
