It looks like Texans may soon be able to decide whether or not to “spring forward” each year.

On Monday, a senate joint resolution (SJR9) was filed to eliminate daylight saving time in Texas, according to KXAN. If it passes, voters will then vote on the issue on November 7, 2023.

It seems like we’re talking about doing away with daylight saving time every time we have to adjust the clocks, which throws everybody’s body clock off. But, for whatever reason, it never seems to happen.

I challenge you to show me one person who actually likes it when the clocks change. Not only does it mess up your sleep schedule, it disrupts your daily routine in general. For me, it usually takes about two weeks before I get used to eating an hour earlier, starting work an hour earlier, etc.

And for the record, I like the longer days we get with daylight saving time, because it allows more time for outdoor activities in the evenings after work. But I will say that moving the clocks forward is much harder on me as I feel tired every day until I finally adjust to it.

But with that being said, I’m totally cool with getting rid of it altogether. I will gladly sacrifice an hour of daylight in the evenings from March to November to not have to go through the pain of adjusting to a clock change.

So hopefully this will finally be the time when lawmakers vote to do away with this silly tradition.
