Long Time Dallas Stars Captain Suffers Massive Injury in Preseason
Looks like the Dallas Stars will be without their captain to start the season after leaving the ice on Tuesday night.
Hopes are high in Dallas for the Stars to make a run at the Stanley Cup this year. According to ESPN, the team has the sixth best odds in the NHL to win the whole thing this year. We will wait and see how the season plays out. One thing we do know, Jamie Benn will not be there to start the season.
Jamie Benn Suffers Collapsed Lung During Preseason Game
The Dallas Stars just announced minutes ago that Jamie Benn left Tuesday's preseason game with a collapsed lung. I have to be honest, I was watching the game and did not expect the injury to be that serious. It was announced by the team on Tuesday night he suffered an upper body injury. No one expected it to be this serious.
Watch Jamie Leave the Ice Hunched Over
You can see Jamie Benn near the goal on this play Tuesday night. Takes a slight hit, then you can watch him skate to the bench hunched over. Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill says that Jamie is expected to recover and will have an evaluation in four weeks. So the Dallas Stars captain is out at least month, most likely more.
Fun Fact: Jamie Benn of the Last Visorless Players
Jamie is old school NHL. The league announced a policy of requiring a visor over your eyes while playing the game. At the time, current players could opt out as sort of a grandfathered in policy. Only four of those players remain in the league in the NHL, including our very own Captain in Dallas. Get better Jamie!
