Only one other Dallas Star ever can say they spent their entire career with the Stars. Jamie Benn could become the second.

Jamie Been was officially drafted by the Stars in 2009. Last season was the end of Jamie's eight year 76 million dollar contract with the Dallas Stars. Since 2013, Jamie Benn has been the Captain for the Dallas Stars and has sadly not raised the Stanley Cup. Several Western Conference Finals appearances and one Stanley Cup appearance in his career has him wanting to do one last thing with this organization. Bring the Stanley Cup back to Dallas. Jamie is taking a significant pay cut to stay in Dallas. He was making 9.5 million a year with his previous deal.

Hopefully Jamie joins the very short list of players that spent at least a decade in Dallas and only ever wore a Stars uniform. Technically, the Stars have the rights to the Minnesota North Stars franchise and a few players count for them. However, when it comes to Dallas Stars history. Right winger Jere Lehtinen is the only player to play for the Dallas Stars for at least a decade and not anywhere else for his career.

Could Esa Lindell Join This List as Well?

Jamie of course should be getting the headlines today, but another player to keep an eye on for future Dallas Stars legends is Esa Lindell. Drafted by the team in 2015 and just wrapped his tenth season in the league. He's signed to the Stars through 2029 and hopefully one day joins this small list of players to only play for the Stars.

Still Feels Weird Mike Modano is Not on This List

Dallas Stars fans try to blackout the Modano Detroit years from their minds, but sadly it did actually happen. Like seeing Emmitt Smith in a Arizona Cardinals jersey, it just feels wrong. Modano and the Stars could not come to an agreement on another deal, but I am happy that Jamie and the Stars worked it out for one last shot at a Stanley Cup. It's not a matter of it will happen, but when. We all know the number 14 will be retired in Dallas at a future date.
