Happy Luka Doncic Day Dallas, Texas!

Like salt in a wound, just a friendly reminder that today is dedicated to Luka Doncic in Dallas.

Just a quick f*** you to Nico Harrison. Glad you're out of a job after trading away Luka last February. That trade still rubs Mavericks fans the wrong way and it was clear many thought Luka would be a Maverick for life. Definitely some folks on the Dallas City Council thought so back in 2021.

July 7th Declared Luka Doncic Day in Dallas

Back in 2021, Luka helped the Slovenian national team to their first ever Olympic games for basketball. That's right, the country NEVER went to the Olympics for basketball. Luka also that year became the youngest player to be named twice to the All-NBA First Team at 22-years-old. So the Dallas City Council named July 6th Luka Doncic day for his accomplishments that year.

Many Wonder Why July 7th is Not Luka Doncic Day?

After all, Luka wore 77 for the Mavericks. So 7/7 seems like a smart thing to do. However on July 7, 2016 several Dallas police officers were involved in a shooting and the day is already dedicated to them to honor their sacrifice. 5 were killed that day and another nine were injured. The Dallas City Council did not think it was appropriate to have the day of remembrance be a new day so suddenly.

Luka Currently a Los Angeles Laker Though 2028

Luka is still currently a Los Angeles Laker. We will wait and see what the future holds for him. He still owns his home here in Dallas and some fans still hold out hope that he could return one day. July 6th has just turned into another day where I remember the dumbest trade for one of my sports teams. In conclusion...again. F*** you Nico Harrison!
